7/7 - Ten years on
The worst day in post-war London followed one of the best (winning the 2012 olympic bid).
What are your memories of that horrible day?

I was on a work day down in Surrey, where we all had to turn our mobiles off. My family couldn't get hold of me for a couple of hours until I turned it on about 11.00am. Don't like to think of what they were going through.

RIP to the 52. If there is a hell, those four cunts will be burning for all eternity.

I was parked up outside a burger van in Foots Cray with my boss eating a bacon roll when we heard the news and then realised that all mobile communication was down so we decided to go home.

A horrible day and one I hope never happens again.

I'm sure the Olympic announcement was the day before, not the day after.

I was working for a company called Recall. I was 16 floors underground in the Eisenhower Building off Goodge Street and I remember my family desperately calling around to see if I was ok. I was blissfully unaware of anything going on at the time until I come out of the building.

Ended up getting a lift to Limehouse and walking the rest of the way home as there was no ther plausible root home.

One of the saddest days I can remember and up there with any IRA atrocity.

Were there bombs in Surrey then?

I was working for Barclays in the wharf. There were shit loads of rumours flying round and we were not allowed to leave the building.

Had to walk to Limehouse to get a train home. Was carnage.

OM, I hadn't told anyone in my family where I was going to be. For all they knew I was in the office near Aldgate.

I was on paternity leave as my son had just been born.
I used to get on the Aldgate train at the time it exploded, as I was working by Embankment.

Knew 2 people that died that day as well.

RIP

Walked to work as I could do in those days.

Watched the story unfolding on telly. Made sure all our colleagues were in safely or home safely, then went to the pub for lunch.

Actually remember at the time being annoyed as nowhere was showing the cricket, as all the pubs had BBC or Sky news on....

WHO was as good a place as any for updates that day.

I was working at Tower Hill. Managed to send a few texts out before the Phones went down.

Do AQ or IS have a history of marking anniversaries?

I was flying from London to Hong Kong and arrived back at my apartment to the breaking news.

They will be roasting in hell or enjoying the 72 virgins depending on whoever's invisible man is the most powerful I assume.

I was in a datacentre on Goswell Rd, Clerkenwell.
We had disaster recovery/business continuity plans with many companies in the impacted areas.
Only one started to implement but suspended it once the situation was "stable" and they had a truer picture of what had actually happened.

Heard the Aldgate bomb at Liverpool street tube thought it was an empty lorry going over a pothole. Went to work at old street. Logging into bbc saying there was a power outage. Later weren't allowed to leave building. Sirens all day, scary shit. Once I did get out went to gym which overlooks artillery fields which acted as a mortuary for the dead that day. Humbling stuff

Common occurence in the 70-80's with Micks letting off bombs every other week... we cope and get on with it because it's in our nature...

Eddie where were you when the Micks blew up the Household cavalry in Hyde park??

Awful day, was on study leave I think. My old man, whilst not on a tube, was working around the City and couldn't get hold of him.

Must have watched the news for about 6 hours straight, was glued.
